One Thousand Yards - Reflection and Future

Wow, what a crazy couple weeks.

First, I want to thank you guys for the outpouring of feedback and love the game's received. It means so much to me. I wrote this story when I was in a pretty bad place (and I'm still kinda there) if that explains away some of the intensity of it. However, It makes me very happy to see that it has spurred these emotions in people– though I'm also sorry for making people feel bad.

Now, let's talk about the future of OTY. As a part of the Novembear Jam, we agreed to not update in the month of December to allow people the chance to play the raw version of the game as released for the Jam. As a result, any updates will have to come in the new year. However, I've essentially got OTY version 1.1 queued up to get posted come the new year. This'll come with some changes, including:

  • Addition of an in-game content warning
  • Various audio fixes
  • Various grammar fixes
  • Small script edits based upon feedback
  • Other things I promise…

OTY may receive a future continuation, but as of right now, I'm returning my attention to my primary project, …And What Remains. If that interests you, I periodically drop updates on my Twitter and Bluesky. Maybe I'll make a Patreon, but we'll see about that.

I'm very happy that this story affected so many people so deeply. It really does mean a lot to me. I look forward to the future projects and whatnot that I'll share.

Thanks,

Shiro
